HOW TO SELECT THE CORRECT SIZE OF HEAT SHRINKABLE TUBING

1
Determine the diameter size of the heat shrinkable tubing you need:

Measure the largest diameter of the object you wish to cover.

ID:The size of the tubing's Inside Diameter
Expanded ID:The minimum expanded ID
Recovered ID:The maximum recovered ID

Select tubing that is 20% larger than this measurement by referring to the product charts. Heat shrinkable tubing is available in 2:1 or 3:1 ratios.

For example:
In a 2:1 ratio: 1/2" will recover to 1/4" — approximately 50% shrinkage.
In a 3:1 ratio: 3/4" will recover to 1/4" — approximately 67% shrinkage.

2
Determine the wall thickness of the heat shrinkable tubing you need:

Nominal Recovered Wall Thickness: The target thickness of the wall after complete recovery. Refer to the Product’s size chart for this step.

3
Determine the length of the heat shrinkable tubing you need:

Longitudinal Shrinkage: The change in length of recovered tubing – after heat is applied. Longitudinal shrinkage varies from 5% to approximately 15% - depending on the material.
