WHAT IS RoHS?
The European Union has developed Directive 2002-95-EC - Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment. This Directive is commonly referred to as ROHS.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF RoHS?
The purpose of the RoHS Directive is:
- To restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment
- To contribute to the protection of human health
- To ensure the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment
WHAT SUBSTANCES ARE COVERED UNDER THE DIRECTIVE?
The following harmful materials will be removed from products and equipment sold to the European Union:
- Lead
- Mercury
- Cadmium
- Hexavalent chromium
- Brominated flame retardants
- Polybrominated biphenyls
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers
WHEN WILL THE DIRECTIVE GO INTO EFFECT?
RoHS became effective on July 1, 2006 for new electrical and electronic equipment marketed to the European Union.
ALL OF INSULTAB’S PRINCIPLE PRODUCTS ARE RoHS - WEEE - ELV COMPLIANT AT THIS TIME.
